Afsara Purnata is currently a 17-year-old high school student at Queens Gateway to Health Sciences Secondary School and lives in New York City. She has always been passionate about history, social justice, as well as pursuing a career in law and learning about how legislation impacts communities. Afsara is dedicated to uplifting the historical narratives of Asian American immigrants and how U.S. immigration policies, gender, race/ethnicity, and religion intersect to shape their experiences. Outside of academics, she spends her time reading, staying updated on current events, watching TV shows and documentaries, and listening to R&B music.
